ALS in Chiba requires English Teachers

"ALS is primarily located in Chiba Prefecture and about 240 kilometers from the Fukushima Power Plants. ALS is a recognized member of Zengaikyo (J.A.P.F.L.E) which is sponsored by the Japanese Ministry of Education. ALS is committed to continue being a part of the local and national effort to rebuild and resume normal operations and services throughout Japan." Full-time, 25 teaching/class hours/week, M-F or Tue-Sat, some split schedules, afternoons and evenings. 250,000yen/month. "Teachers at American Language School have the responsibility of being teachers first and foremost. There is a 5 day training period introducing fundamental guidelines in teaching and an introduction to ALS' curriculum. Bi-monthly teacher meetings, an annual Teachers' Seminar, and 2-3 P.R. events per year, such as Halloween and Christmas parties help create a sense of teacher and school community." Teaching location Asahi and Kamisu, Chiba-ken. BA required. Six months teaching or teaching-related experience (camp counselor, etc. OK) with children preferred. Will sponsor or renew visa. Accommodation: "single dwelling private company apartment of varying size and newness, as convenient to work locations as possible. Approximately 50,000/month plus utilities. No key money or deposit." Five weeks paid vacation at pre-determined times of year. One-year renewable contract. Positions begin in November, 2011.
