ASSISTANT PROFESSOR Required in Ibaraki

40 working hours/week, 9-12 teaching/class hours/week, 8:40-17:30, M-F. 3,600,000yen/year (for 25 year-old teacher). Teach six-eight class periods/week. Substantial additional teaching and other activities with students. If the successful applicant is asked to teach 7 or 8 classes, there will be extra pay. The successful applicant will also be required to be available during working hours of the university (8:40-17:30), but there is some flexibility in special circumstances. The successful applicant will also be required to participate in activities and meetings conducted by the Department of Contemporary English, which may include some evenings and Saturdays. Sunday work is very rare. Duties from 2013 will likely include communication or audio-visual classes on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday. Teaching location Omika, Hitachi, Ibaraki (nearby station Omika, Joban Line). Native (or near native) English-language ability, MA (TESOL or related subject), and ability to plan student events such as parties, extracurricular learning activities, and similar activities required. Ph.D. (TESOL or related subject), TESL/TEFL/TESOL/CELTA certification or teaching license, experience, and Japanese speaking and writing ability preferred. Applicant NOT REQUIRED to reside in Japan, but "the successful candidate must agree to live in the prefecture of Ibaraki." Sponsorship available. Accommodation: some relocation expenses paid. Paid holidays, moving/relocation allowance, research allowance, and enrollment in university health insurance program. One-year contract, renewable up to four times.
