I started teaching English privately in Berlin before moving to Freiburg where I started teaching for a company called Greenbaum and Pepper. After moving to Japan to meet my future wife´s relatives I taught there for a year in Kofu. I then taught English literature and writing at a private high school called the Arrowsmith Acadamy in Berkeley, California before the school in bankruptcy closed in 2001. Moving back to Freiburg to begin my graduate work I also resumed teaching English in private well as teaching for two companies one of them being the Cambridge Institute. With the sudden hospitalization of a relative I had to return to California. After the emergency was resolved I returned to Japan to teach another two years in Osaka and Kyoto as well as teaching at a preschool in Fukuchiyama. I then had to return to Freiburg for reasons of my graduate work before finally returning to Japan to teach English and advance my study of Japanese.
