Fishing in Japan: All about where to catch the big one in this part of Asia.

Fishing is a fairly popular sport in Japan. Of course this is a country that loves to eat fish. There are many fishing programs on TV, a lot of fishing supply stores and many magazines about fishing (in Japanese).

What type of fish do you go for? Trout, Salmon, Walleye, Pike, Musky, Shad, Crappie, Redfish, Pelagics, Marlin, Sharks, Bream, Whiting? Do you specialise in Freshwater or Saltwater fishing? Do you just fish of the beach, rocks, piers or do you fish from a boat? In spite of all these options fishing is the most popular pastime in the world.

Care for Fly fishing?

Perhaps one of the most difficult aspects of fishing in Japan is simply getting a license. Fly fishing in Japan is a fairly new sport.
