Food in Japan

Food in Japan, there are so many kinds of available in Japan. The supermarkets are full of healthy food, as the Japanese diet is one of the world`s healthiest, and the Okinawan diet is arguably the healthiest on the globe.

What can you get, and where can you get it? Of course Japanese supermarkets are great and you can get most of what you need from them. They are very clean, well run and the prices are not bad, once you start making your salary in yen.

Food from Home in Japan

You may think you can go for a long time without your favorite food from home. However there comes a time when we all long for one of our favorite dishes.

What should you do?

Yoyo Market has Costco and Ikea food

Both Costco and Ikea sell Western food, the former from mostly North American and Ikea--mostly from Sweden. You can have both delivered right to your door in Japan along with furniture and other items from both stores.

Yoyo Market has a nice online shop where you can order what you want and have it delivered to your home in Japan.

Yoyo Market

Many people I have spoken to, are talking about iHerb, as being the place to get vitamins, food and other items from home, and the shipping and the price in total, is very, very cheap! Sounds good to me.

About iHerb

iHerb sells nutritional supplements and other healthy products both domestically and internationally. A rapidly-expanding business, iHerb carries one of the largest selections of high - quality nutritional products in the world.

Shiitake Mushrooms

Another great reason to live in Japan is fresh shiitake mushrooms. They are very different from their dried version and you will be surprised by the difference in taste.

Try them with pea pods, grains or fish. We often eat them with chicken, mix them into our rice or sometimes put them in our miso soup.
