How do I get started?

Okay, please go along with this. Here's my story:
I am 16 and live in Tennessee, USA. I have wanted to teach English in Japan ever since I was a freshman in high school. I'm now a junior and I have a very high ACT score and have only taken it once. My problem is that my family does not like the idea of going to Japan (Particularly my parents. My siblings are actually very supportive). With all of this stuff with college, I'm a little confused on how things work. So here's my questions:
*Do I have to go to a college or do I just get an online certificate? I don't understand exactly how all of this TEFL and ESL stuff works and there's no one in my area who could help me.
*Is it better to go to college?
*I hear stuff about creating your own schools (you, yourself, are one of the instances that I heard), and I don't understand. If I go to Japan to teach, do I teach in a school, or are there several hundred separated schools and I basically have to lure people in like a business and make my own? I don't know much about this.
*Will my accent get in the way? I have a slight to moderate accent, so should I lose it? And if so, how?
*Will the schools I work for (if I don't have to make my own) be for children/teens, or for adults?
*And once again, I'm really confused about the whole school thing
