Non-Tenured English Instructors required at Tokai U

Full-time, eight classes/week spread over four days/week (M, Tue, Thur,
F). Most classes meet twice/week (M/Thur or Tue/F) but some classes meet
once/week. Semesters: April to early August and late September to
mid-February. Classes include: Required Listening & Speaking and
Required Reading & Writing courses; Electives such as TOEIC/TOEFL,
Career English, Grammar, Interactive English, Practical English,
Pronunciation, Presentation, Debate, Discussion; Career English and
Critical Thinking Minor courses; and Intercultural Understanding Minor
courses. Other duties include: keeping weekly office hours, attending
monthly teachers’ meetings, proctoring common exams, staffing the
English counseling center (E-navi), working on committees, coaching
students for the English speech contest and interviews, and attending
special events (e.g. Graduation, Entrance Ceremony, Annual General
Meeting, etc.). Non-tenured position. Teaching location Shonan campus,
Kanagawa, nearest train station Tokaidaigakumae Station, Odakyu Line.
Proper visa; native English speaker or native-level English proficiency;
MA (TEFL, TESL, TESOL, Applied Linguistics or related area); three years
teaching experience at the college/university level in Japan; and basic
computer skills (Word, Excel, etc.) required. Ph.D. (TEFL/TESOL/TESL,
Applied Linguistics or related area); TESL/TESOL/TESL/CELTA/RSA
certification or teaching license; conversational Japanese ability;
experience with Moodle; and previous publications in TEFL,TESL,
Linguistics or related field preferred. APPLICANT MUST CURRENTLY RESIDE
IN JAPAN. Will sponsor or renew visa. Accommodation: housing allowance
¥15,000 per month. Annual research allowance, transportation allowance,
paid holidays, paid vacation, and health insurance automatically
deducted from salary. One-year contract, renewable up to 5 years.

recent letters of recommendation (preferably within the past 6 months,
signed and sealed; note: sending just a list of referees is NOT
acceptable), photocopy of first passport page with photo, photocopy of
visa page, photocopy of residence/foreign registration card, and 2
sample syllabi for a university English course, especially combined
skills courses (e.g. Reading and Writing, Listening and Speaking).
