Tatsuro Yamashita - Who is he?
Tatsuro Yamashita is a Japanese singer-songwriter and record producer.
Yamashita has been one of the most popular recording artists of recent times in Japan, selling around 9 million copies of his many albums.
Yamashita is most famous for his song, "Christmas Eve."
His album "Cozy" reached number one, and his album
"Sonorite" number two on the Japanese charts.

In 1973, Yamashita formed the band Sugar Babe and released their only album, "Songs," two years later. "Tats," started his solo career after the band broke up in 1976. He signed with RCA.
"Moonglow" put Tatsuro on the map. Then his song "Ride on Time" peaked at number three on Oricon.

Yamashita eventually married musical collaborator Mariya Takeuchi and they have made some albums together. They have one daughter.
