Teach English in Matsuyama, Ehime Crossroads Language Studio requires English Conversation Teachers Full-time, 5 days/week, 40 hours/week, 1-10pm, 100 contact hours/month (to 25 hours/week on average). 250,000yen/month. Teach mostly adults of all ages, occasional children's classes, and outside (company) classes. "Lessons are held for groups as well as for private classes, and are generally once a week or twice a week for each group or private student. Unless traveling to an outside (company) location, non-teaching hours during the working day are spent at the school in lesson preparation, resources development and general assistance to office management and staff. Teachers should also be available in their free time during the day to participate in 'open house' activities, chatting with students over a coffee or tea, when not teaching or otherwise engaged in work related activities. For general (in-house) English courses, teachers follow the Crossroads teaching system which is based on techniques associated with drama, including 'script writing' and performances/presentations (by the students). However, outside (company) lessons and the occasional kids lesson follow a different, more 'conventional' format." Attend regular staff meetings and 4-5 social events during the year. Teaching location center of the city of Matsuyama. BA/BS (specialization: teaching, Business English teaching, performing arts degree, especially acting, theatre in general and music, instrumental and/or vocal) required. MA, over two years experience teaching in a foreign country (especially in Japan), TESL/TEFL/TESOL certification, business background, basic computer skills, editing skills, and theatre (acting, directing, script writing) or music (instrumental, vocal) ability ("the applicant should have a degree of proficiency and/or recognition in these latter two categories for them to be considered as additional assets in applying for this position") preferred. Applicant NOT REQUIRED to reside in Japan, "but could be an advantage." Will sponsor or renew visa. Accommodation: "a comfortable furnished apartment located within walking distance, or short bike ride, from the school is arranged. All required deposit or 'key' money is paid by the school. The apartment is also equipped with a phone/phone line. The rent and utility bills are paid by the teacher - rent is usually between 55,000 - 65,000 yen per month. Basic utilities run to about 10,000 yen per month, but can vary greatly depending on usage." Paid holidays, paid vacation and health insurance. One-year renewable contract. Position begins ASAP.
