Full-time. Tenured position. Teach Cross-cultural Communication and/or Intercultural Studies with a focus on Asia and Japan. Courses include Intercultural Communication Seminar, English Presentation, other related undergraduate courses, and a possibility of some graduate courses.


"Successful applicants will be affiliated with the English Department of the Faculty of Foreign Studies."



Japanese ability sufficient to perform administrative tasks; one year professional experience teaching English or related subjects at a Japanese university; and Ph.D. (or equivalent degree) in Cross-cultural Communication, Intercultural Studies and/or related fields required. Application deadline September 30, 2011. Position begins April 1, 2012.



Apply by registered mail (write "Faculty of Foreign Studies English Department Application Documents" in red on the front of the envelope) with CV; copies of all diplomas including and beyond the bachelor's degree (photocopies are admissible); list of academic publications, copies of three major publications that can include the candidate's dissertation (photocopies are admissible), each with a Japanese abstract (approximately 1200 characters in A4 size) attached; and an essay in Japanese (2000 characters, A4 size) about the candidate's educational philosophy for teaching English and related subjects. "After applications have been reviewed, finalists will be interviewed and required to give a demonstration class. All candidates will be notified directly by mail."
