Volunteering in Japan

by Justin Tse
(Toronto, Canada )

I'm a resident of Toronto. I was born in Canada and I was wondering about volunteering opportunities in Japan or Canada, such as assisting with work at English schools or at ESL/EFL clubs , language exchange.

Any help appreciated.

Justin there is the Peace Boat and you can read more about it here. You travel around the world
and teach a language as a volunteer. If accepted you travel for free but pay for the trip by teaching others a language.

You can volunteer at Shin Shizen Juku in Hokkaido.
It is a farming commune in Tsurui. It is run like a kibbutz. You teach English and perhaps do some farm work.

Many Japanese want to do language exchange so that is available all over. Come to think of it,
maybe I should start a free language exchange program right at this website?

Non-Volunteer:

The JET Program and many, many others.

May other readers can come up with more suggestions.
