I would try to get a working holiday visa. Things are always changing but as far as I know
citizens of the UK can get a working holiday visa for Japan. That will allow you to work and employers love that visa as it makes things a lot easier when hiring you. It can be renewed as far as I know. Then you can always switch over
to a working visa in the future, once the working
holiday visa expires.

Yes, do take a TEFL course. Your students will
be happy that you did. You can take one online
if there are no courses near you or you would prefer that. Here is a link to a very good

Getting your degree is a great idea. It will improve your chances of getting a good job in Japan. As well studying Japanese is always a good idea.

Basically read all that you can about living and working in Japan (as you seem to be doing).

The people who have a bad experience here tend to be the ones who jump on the plane with no planning and expect things to go well. Sometimes they do and sometimes they don`t.

Be prepared!
